The Campeonato de España Resistencia kicked off at Circuito de Navarra with a couple of 50-minute races.
Brothers Rubén and Felipe Fernández were victorious in the first race's TCR class at the wheel of their RC2 Junior Team CUPRA Leon Competición. After setting the pole position, Rubén imposed a fast pace and built a small gap before handing the wheel to Felipe. The Audi RS 3 LMS DSG of Mirco van Nostrum and Álvaro Fontes kept on chasing the leaders throughout the race and ended in second place, only three seconds behind. Sergio López completed the podium in the second CUPRA Leon Competición run by RC2 Junior Team.
Andorra’s lady driver Amalia Vinyes took a lights-to-flag TCR class win in the second race, making up for the disappointment of retiring with three laps to go from Race 1, when her Baporo Motorsport CUPRA DSG was stopped by a technical issue. Vinyes took a great start and led for the whole distance, beating the Fernández brothers by 33 seconds on the line. Víctor Fernández was classified third, one lap behind.
The series will resume at Motorland Aragón on 31 July, 1 August.
