TC America’s 2019 champion team, FCP Euro, announced the decision to withdraw the Volkswagen Golf GTI cars on Nate Vincent and Michael Hurczyn from this weekend’s Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
The team’s release reads: “After considering the information available from the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control, we believe avoiding the large crowds that are anticipated this weekend is the most responsible way for FCP Euro to play a part in reducing the global spread of COVID-19. This decision is in line with our internal priorities of employee, company, and community wellness above all else.”
As announced at a press conference held by the Mayor of St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg Grand Prix organizers, the events will proceed in a condensed schedule with only essential personnel permitted on the Grand Prix grounds. As a public safety measure related to the COVID-19 virus, the event will be closed to spectators.
TC America round 3 will start Saturday at 18:15 local time (21:15 CET), while round 4 will start Sunday at 9:20 local time (14:20 CET). Both races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com.
