RealTime Racing’s Ryan Eversley claimed his second win of the season in the TCR category of the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge at Lime Rock Park.
Eversley and his Honda Civic Type R FK7 started from pole position and led for the whole race until it was red-flagged with three minutes left on the clock.
Brian Herta Autosport’s teammates Mark Wilkins and Michael Lewis chased Eversley in the early stages and then ran in formation to finish second and third in their Hyundai i30 N cars.
Michael Hurczyn of FCP Euro by HRD won the all-Volkswagen Golf GTI battle for fourth, ahead of John Filippi (FTP) and Puerto Rican Bryan Ortiz who had replaced Jeff Andretti at Copeland Motorsports.
The race was disrupted once by the safety-car between laps 3 and 10 to recover JT Coupal’s Audi RS3 LMS that has crashed into the barriers after a collision with the Honda of Eversley’s teammate Adam Merzon.
Seven minutes before the end of the race, a car of the TCA class crashed and the safety-car was deployed once again, but the Race Director waved the red flag soon afterwards.
The victory helped Eversley to stretch his leadership in the standings to ten points ahead of Wilkins, while Lewis lies third a further twelve points adrift
