Almost 40 different teams representing 15 nationalities worldwide have already registered to compete in the inaugural TCR Spa 500 on 3/6 October, with more expected to sign-up in the upcoming weeks.
Unsurprisingly, Belgian teams outnumber those of any other nation so far, with six entries – including WTCR and TCR Europe regulars Comtoyou Racing and Team WRT a former Spa 24 Hours winner and multiple Blancpain GT Series champion. France and The Netherlands are represented by five cars each, so far.
“Spa had, has and will always have a special taste for us,” explains WRT team principal, Vincent Vosse. “This is our home track. I actually attended my very first Spa 24 Hours back in 1977 when I was just five years old, and have since entered the event 15 times!”
Interest though has spread further afield than Europe into Asia and Australia. Atech Racing, GDL Team Australia, Macau PS Racing, Viper Niza Racing and Teamwork Huff Motorsport for example – the latter a recent venture by former World Touring Car Champion, Rob Huff – represent the United Arab Emirates, Macau, Malaysia and Hong Kong respectively.
