CUPRA Racing announced a new partnership with Mattias Ekström’s EKS team that will run the CUPRA e-Racer cars in the 2022 ETCR FIA eTouring Car World Cup.
The team owned by the 2021 PURE ETCR champion has already proved a winning one in a wide range of motorsport categories including a 1-2 finish in the Dakar Rally T3 class.
“Our new partnership with CUPRA marks an exciting time for EKS, as we enter the world of electric racing. As always, we are in the FIA ETCR for the win and CUPRA EKS is fully focused on the forthcoming season,”Ekström said.
Werner Tietz, Executive Vice-President for Research and Development at CUPRA echoed: “We are delighted to announce this exciting new partnership that will allow us to develop the CUPRA e-Racer even further. We aim for race victories and back-to-back ETCR titles, and with ETCR becoming a fully FIA sanctioned World Cup, we could not be more motivated.”
