M1RA Motorsport’s Dušan Borkovič ended a flawless weekend at Brno, for the third event of the TCR Eastern Europe. After winning pole position and yesterday’s Race 1 that enabled him to secure the title, the Serb hasn’t lost his motivations and today claimed another victory in Race 2, the sixth for him from six races.
The 2019 champion, Milovan Vesnić had a better start from P2 on the grid and took the lead into the first corner with his CUPRA; Borkovič put some pressure on Vesnić and in the middle of the first lap he was able to overtake him.
Behind the leaders there was plenty of clean fights. Jáchym Galáš in his GT2 Motorsport Volkswagen and Carol Wittke with the Fullinrace Academy CUPRA battled each other again just like in Saturday’s Race 1. While they were fighting for P7, Sandro Soubek and Petr Čížek made contact that resulted in Soubek’s Audi going off onto the gravel, while Čížek had to pit for repairs.
Starting from P3 Dušan Kouřil was not able to keep his position and was passed by his fellow Hyundai driver Szymon Jabłonski. As Galáš and Wittke were still fighting, they caught up with Kouřil and Wittke took the occasion to pass Galáš for P5.
During the last laps, Galáš and Jakub Wyszomirski collided, and the Polish drivers’ Honda went off and got stranded onto the gravel.
Borkovič claimed another victory with a comfortable margin over Vesnić and Jabłonski.
The TCR Eastern Europe championship will come to an end at the Hungaroring on October 23/25.
