TCR Eastern Europe’s leader Dušan Borković began the third event of the season at Brno in the usual way, setting pole position in the Qualifying session.
The Serb and his M1RA Motorsport Hyundai i30 N were clocked at 2:12.876, when nobody else was able to complete a lap in less than 2:13, and so claimed their third consecutive pole position.
The reigning champion Milovan Vesnić, who was forced to skip the previous event at the Slovakia Ring due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, set the second fastest lap, half-a-second behind, while Sandro Soubek qualified in third position a further two tenths adrift.
This time the restrictions caused by the pandemic prevented the Zengő Motorsport team from travelling from Hungary to the Czech Republic, and this has sidelined Bence Boldizs who is currently second in the standings with a gap of 54 points.
As a result, Borković has the opportunity to secure the title during this weekend, as he has built a margin of 64 points over Vesnić, when 100 points are still on offer between Brno and the last event of the season at the Hungaroring.
The first race will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com, tomorrow at 12:45 local time (Central Europe Summer Time).
