In a wet Qualifying at Zandvoort, Dominik Fugel claimed his maiden pole position in the ADAC TCR Germany championship. In Q2, Fugel drove his Profi-Car Honda Civic to complete a lap of the Dutch circuit in 1:59.960, 36-thousandths of a second fastest than Bradley Burns in another Civic run by Pyro Motorsport.
The three title contenders – Harald Proczyk, Mike Halder and Antti Buri – filled the positions between third and fifth, with the reigning champion Proczyk who set the third fastest lap and so cut two points off Buri’s leading margin that went down to 11 points.
In Q1, Mike Halder set the fastest lap of 1:58.697 right under the chequered flag, demoting Max Hesse (1:58.767) and Burns (1:58.931) to second and third respectively. The top-twelve who advanced to Q2 were completed by Fugel (1:59.056), Buri (1:59.467), Proczyk (1:59.595), Hyundai’s guest driver Lance David Arnold (1:59.741), Théo Coicaud (1:59.770), Mitchell Cheah (2:00.00), René Kircher (2:00.192), Michelle Halder (2:00.513) and Julien Apothéloz (2:00.773).
Jan Seyffert failed to make the cut in the Lubner Motorsport LADA Vesta as he ranked in 13th position, two tenths behind Apothéloz.
Proczyk clocked the first provisional fastest lap in Q2 (1:59.453), but was soon beaten by Burns (1:59.386). Fugel jumped on top with the time of 1:58.960 on his second flying lap, then Burns improved to 1:58.996 but had to settle in second place. The last one to improve was Apothéloz who advanced from 10th to seventh and so left the pole position on the top-ten reversed grid for Race 2 to Arnold.
The first race will start this afternoon at 17:20 local time (CET); live streaming will be at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
