Georgia’s motorsport hero Davit Kajaia returns to international motorsport after one sabbatical year. The 35-year old from Tbilisi will drive a CUPRA run by the Spanish outfit PCR Sport under the name PCR Sport with Georgia.
Kajaia has built himself a reputation in Touring Car competition, becoming the first Georgian to be successful in international racing. He clinched the FIA European Touring Car Cup for the TC2T class in 2015 and then spent two seasons in the TCR International Series claiming a famous victory at Rustavi, in front of the cheering Georgian fans.
"I am so happy to have this opportunity to re-join TCR, this time in the European Series, representing again Mia Force and Georgia,” a delighted Kajaia said. “Throughout the past season I have only been thinking about this return. Unfortunately we made quite a late arrangement and this left me no chances to do pre-season tests. But I am sure that working with a highly professional team like PCR Sport will help me minimize this lack. I can hardly wait to get behind the steering wheel again! So what can I say? Thank you Georgia and Hello Europe!"
