Brazil-based Cobra Racing returns to TCR South America for the third season and this year it will also compete in the new TCR Brazil championship.
The team elected to field two different models, one Toyota Corola GRS and one of the two Audi RS 3 LMS cars it ran in the two previous seasons. Touring Car veteran Adalberto Baptista, the winner of the 2021 TCR South America Copa Trophy will be at the wheel of the new Toyota, while Diego Nunes will race in the Audi.
Nunes faces his TCR debut following a successful career in the Brazilian Stock Car series that lasted thirteen season and resulted in five race wins; in 2022 he clinched the title in the Porsche Carrera Endurance Series.
“I’m so pleased to stay with Cobra Racing for the new season and excited to drive the new Toyota. I’m part of TCR South America from the very beginning and I’m happy to see how the championship has grown in such a short time,” Baptista said.
And Nunes echoed: “I’m excited to face this new challenge in my career. Cobra Racing proved to be one of the most competitive teams in the series and TCR is an international category that gets bigger every year. It was its growing popularity that pushed me to take this opportunity to join the TCR South America championship.”
