Sergio López and the pair of Mirco van Nostrum-Álvaro Fontes shared wins in the TCR class of the Campeonato de España Resistencia at Jerez de la Frontera.
The RC2 Junior Team CUPRA Leon Competición driven by Felipe and Rubén Fernández led for most of the first race but retired with a technical issue with ten minutes left on the clock. López inherited the first place in the RC2 sister car and took the chequered flag with a five-second margin over Amalia Vinyes’ Baporo Motorsport CUPRA, while van Nostrum and Fontes completed the podium in the CDS Engineering Audi RS 3 LMS.
Van Nostrum and Fontes took their revenge in the second race. They moved into the lead when López made a mistake and dropped several places. In the final part of the 40-minute race, the Audi resisted the pressure from Vinyes who finished a close second again, while the third position went to Santiago Concepción in his PCR Sport-run CUPRA.
After the weekend, van Nostrum and Fontes have extended their leadership in the standings to 52 points over Rubén Fernández.
The series will come to an end with a 2-hour race at Barcelona-Catalunya on 13/14 November.
