Michael Caruso’s second place in TCR Australia’s Race 3 at Sandown which was held over a month ago turned into a maiden win for the Ashley Seward Motorsport driver and his Alfa Romeo Giulietta following the five-second penalty handed to Will Brown.
Brown and his Melbourne Performance Centre-run Audi RS 3 LMS had crossed the finishing line in first position, but he was eventually penalised for an incident with Zac Soutar.
Championship leader Tony D’Alberto was also handed a penalty for an incident with Bailey Sweeny in the same race. D’Alberto was given ten seconds and dropped from fifth to tenth position. This cut his points lead from 56 to 46 points over Jordan Cox ahead of the Bathurst season finale in November.
