Carl Swift and Stewart Lines have confirmed that they will be running as a two-car team under the Maximum Motorsport banner from the Brands Hatch event onwards. The event will also see a return to the TCR UK championship for the pair, who both missed the previous round at Knockhill.
The decision to skip the Scottish event was unavoidable as the two Cupra TCR cars were being upgraded from DSG to sequential transmission.
Now that the conversions from DSG to sequential gearboxes have been successfully completed, the two drivers feel that joining forces to run the cars as a joint Maximum Motorsport entry is the most sensible move.
Stewart Lines said: “Carl and I both felt that pooling our resources and running under the Maximum Motorsport banner was a no-brainer; we both run the same cars and we are both determined to fight for results in TCR UK. Now that we’ve got the sequential gearboxes fitted, we can take the fight to the likes of Dan Lloyd from Brands Hatch onwards. We’ve had a chance to run the cars with the new transmissions and we were delighted at the difference. We were both sorry to have to miss Knockhill, but there was no way we would have been able to get the work done. Coming back to the series as a two-car team means we can share certain costs and work together, rather than race as two individuals. It’s true that two heads are better than one!”
