Two newcomers will make their first appearance in TCR Australia this weekend at Winton Motor Raceway: Bryce Fulwood and Liam McAdam.
Super2 Series leader Fullwood will be driving one of Kelly Racing Subaru WRX STI cars. The team has elected to retain the highly experienced André Heimgartner in the Holden Astra TCR as it continues to develop that car after André’s last and only race weekend in the Astra at Queensland Raceway was cut short by an engine failure.
The Winton round will mark Fullwood’s first-ever motor race in a front-wheel driver car.
“It’s going to be an interesting change for me, everything I’ve raced from go karts up to the Supercar has been rear-wheel drive so to jump in a front wheel drive race car is going to be different for me. I’ve been following along with TCR for the last few months and I kind of know what I should expect but at the same time I’m going in with an open mind and now that the team has a fresh engine in the Subaru, I hope I can help them develop the car further,” Fulwood said.
McAdam has secured a deal to drive a Melbourne Performance Centre Audi RS 3 LMS in the final three rounds of the championship. After testing for the team at The Bend earlier this month, the 22-year-old will drive the car that Garth Tander, Jean-Karl Vernay and Aaron Seton drove in recent rounds.
“I’ve never raced a front wheel drive car before, so there will be a lot to learn and get my head around. The Bend test that I did was a great to get comfortable in the car and see what it is all about. My times there were really good, but I know that racing will be a whole new story,” commented McAdam.
