Tobias Brink won the first game of the TCR Scandinavia finale at Mantorp Park, as he beat the championship leader Robert Dahlgren in Qualifying.
Brink set the pole position with a lap of 1:19.233 in Q2 that was 0.113 seconds faster than Dahlgren’s 1:19.346 and so cut his rival’s leading margin by one point; however the gap between them is still of twenty points.
After setting the fastest lap in Q1 (1:19.507), Mattias Andersson improved to 1:19.389 in Q2 and qualified in third position ahead of Dahlgren’s teammates Daniel Haglöf and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinski. Andreas Wernersson who lies fourth in the standings, 43 points behind Dahlgren, qualified in sixth position and will start from the pole on the reversed grid for Race 2.
As for Andreas Ahlberg, the third contender in the title fight, although with a gap of 35 points, he failed to make the top six and will start from seventh in both races.
The two races will start tomorrow at 12:55 and 15:30 local time (CET) and will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
