The Red Camel-Jordans.nl CUPRA DSG of Luc and Ivo Breukers took its maiden TCR-class win in the 24H Middle East Championship at Abu Dhabi in a four-hour race that counted as round six of the TCR Middle East Series as well.
“This is the first race I’ve ever shared with my dad, so taking the win was awesome!“ Luc Breukers said. “I missed the refuelling area at one stage, so that cost us 40 seconds, but we drove fast, we had a good strategy, and it was really fun.“
The JW Bird Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI of Paul Dehadray and Kieran Griffin finished an impressive second, one lap behind, but having set a fastest lap a full second quicker than the race winners.
The Zengő Motorsport CUPRA TCR driven by Zoltán Zengő and Csába Tóth rounded out the podium one further lap down, while the sister car that Zengő shared with Tamás Tenke retired with a technical issue.
As for René Münnich, the winner of the two sprint races, he drove for 37 laps in order to score the 10-point bonus for the TCR Middle East.
Both series – TCR Middle East and 24H Middle East – will come to an end at Dubai Autodrome next Thursday, with the two sprint races and the 4-hour Race 3.
