Reigning TCR Russia champion Dmitry Bragin emerged as the fastest in an extremely close Qualifying session at Fort Grozny, for the opening event of the season.
The six fastest drivers were all covered by three tenths of a second, with Bragin winning the pole position at the wheel of his Taif Motorsport Audi RS3 LMS with a lap of 1:22.140. Bragin’s time was two tenths faster than Klim Gavrilov’s 1:22.340 in the Lukoil Racing Audi, while Kyrill Ladygin qualified third, only a further three thousandths adrift, in the best of the LADA Vesta cars.
Gavrilov’s teammates, Aleksey Dudukalo (1:22.410) and newcomer Ivan Lukashevich (1:22.417) ranked in fourth and fifth positions; Lukashevich’s SEAT León was the fastest DSG car.
Vladimir Sheshenin (1:22.478) and Mikhail Grachev (1:22.813) followed in the other two Vesta cars of the Rosneft LADA Sport team.
Seventeen drivers have entered in the event; the first race will start Saturday at 11:45 local time (10:45 CET) on the distance of 17 laps. It will be streamed at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
