BBR won the 12H Mugello, second round of the 2022 24H Series. The victory was the second in the season for the Thai team after that in the 24H Dubai and the first with its brand-new CUPRA Leon Competición.
Chariya Nuya, Kantadhee Kusiri, Kantasak Kusiri and Tanart Sathienthirakul shared driving duties and led the TCR class almost uninterrupted during the second half of the event on Sunday.
Sathienthirakul drove the CUPRA across the line to complete 304 laps of the Mugello Circuit, three laps ahead of the Noker Racing Team Volkswagen Golf GTI driven by Kęstutis Stasionis, Sten-Dorian Piirimägi, Jonas Karklys and Antti Rammo that had led in the early stages.
The Holmgaard Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI of Roy Edland, Magnus Holmgaard, Jonas Holmgaard and Martin Vedel Mortensen had looked set to finish in the top three, but lost time in the garage to fix a detached front splitter and this promoted the Wolf-Power Racing Audi RS 3 LMS of Ivars Vallers, Jasmin Preisig and Marcus Menden to third in the class.
The 24H Series will return on 22-23-24 April in the 12H Spa-Francorchamps.
