Nicola Baldan benefited from the experience of last week’s participation in the TCR Europe Series at Le Castellet to claim pole position on the same track for the second event of TCR Italy.
On top of this, the defending Italian champion drove his Pit Lane Competizioni Hyundai i30 N to set a new track record for TCR cars of 2:13.668 that improved by one tenth Dušan Borković’s pole position time from last week.
Eric Scalvini of BRC Racing completed an all-Hyundai front row for Race 1, posting the second fastest lap of 2:14.161; Salvatore Tavano placed his Cupra third (2:14.471) ahead of the Honda Civic cars of Jürgen Schmarl (2:14.676) and José Rodrigues (2:15.045).
Andrea Larini (Cupra), Marco Pellegrini (Honda), Massimiliano Mugelli (Honda), Federico Paolino (Hyundai) and the winner of the season’s two opening races at Imola Luigi Ferrara (Alfa Romeo) rounded off the top ten.
