The Autorama Motorsport by Wolf-Power Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI secured its second consecutive Overall TCE Teams’ championship in the 24H Series Europe with victory in 12H Sicily at Pergusa.
After a typically metronomic run, Miklas Born, Fabian Danz and Constantin Kletzer benefited from late-race drama for its nearest rival, the Red Camel-Jordans.nl CUPRA of Ivo and Luc Breukers to win the first 6-hour leg on Saturday afternoon. The following day, the Golf GTI ran a flawless second 6-hour leg to claim its third TCE division win of the season that also assured the Overall TCE Drivers’ crown to Born before the season finale at Circuit Zandvoort in November.
Despite constant balance and handling problems on Saturday, the AC Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS shared by James Kaye, Ricky Coomber and Marcus Menden recovered to secure second overall, while the Red Camel-Jordans.nl CUPRA endured a troubled race, suffering collision damage and a broken wheel strut, but still managed to secure a hard-earned third.
One round now remains: the 12H Zandvoort on 13/14 November that will count towards both the 24H Series Europe and the 24H Series Continents.
