Autorama Motorsport by Wolf-Power Racing secured a 1-2 finish in the TCR class at the 24H Barcelona, fourth round of the 24H Series.
The team’s lead Volkswagen Golf GTI of Paul Sieljes, Arūnas Gečiauskas, Sigitas Ambrazevičius and Vytenis Gulbinas completed a decisive run at Montmeló to secure the Swiss outfit’s third successive win in the current season. It was Gečiauskas who drove the #112 Golf across the line after 638 laps of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
In an amazing comeback, the second Autorama Volkswagen, driven by Emil Heyerdahl, Jasmin Preisig, Constantin Kletzer and Roberto Ferri finished just 41 seconds behind its sister entry, despite a collision with a GT car that sent the #1 Golf into the gravel during the opening hour.
The Rail Equip / Totcar Sport (Jorge Belloc Diaz/Jorge Belloc Ruiz/Álvaro Rodríguez Sastre) rounded out the podium at its home event just ahead of fellow Spanish team, Baporo Motorsport (Manel Lao Gorina/Manel Lao Cornago/Llorenç Fluxà Domene/Llorenç Fluxà Cross); both teams were running CUPRA cars.
A full gearbox replacement ended up dropping the Audi RS 3 LMS of title contender AC Motorsport (Stéphane Perrin/Mathieu Detry/James Kaye/Vincent Radermecker) to 5th in the class.
The second place meant that the #1 Autorama Motorsport team has extended its leadership in the standings to 12 points over the #188 AC Motorsport, while the #112 Autorama Motorsport follows in third position, eight further points adrift.
The 24H Series will resume for round 5 on 1/3 October, with the 12H of Sicily at Pergusa.
