The Autorama Motorsport by Wolf-Power Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR #112 set pole position in the TCE division for the 24H Dubai, opening round of the 2021 24H Series.
The Swiss team was in the hunt from the very beginning of the 30-minute session, with Miklas Born posting the fastest lap of 2:09.405, which marked Autorama Motorsport’s first TCE pole position in Dubai and the first time a TCR car has taken TCE pole position at the 24H Dubai since the division was introduced to the 24H Series in 2018.
“This weekend has just started perfectly!” It was an amazing lap, an amazing car, and I want to say a big thanks to the team. I think we’ve shown we have good speed,” said reigning TCE Drivers’ champion Born who will share the car with Jasmin Preising, Kari-Pekka Laaksonen and Gustavo Xavier.
The CWS Engineering Ginetta running in the TCX class qualified in second position, while last year’s TCE winner at Dubai – the AC Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS #188, (Stéphane Perrin/Philippe Thirion/Sébastien Morales/ Mathieu Detry) – made a superb effort to post the third fastest lap in the closing moments of the session and will thus start from the second row alongside the Red Camel-Jordans.nl CUPRA TCR #101 (Ivo Breukers/HenryLittig/Steven Liquorish/Willem Meijer).
The third row of the TCE grid will be shared by the Simpson Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS #138 (Gunnar Jeannette/Sacha Kakad/Rodrigo Sales/Mihail Zamfir/Paul Smith) and the BBR CUPRA #107 run by Monlau Competición (Anusorn Asiralertsiri/Chariya Nuya/ Kantadhee Kusiri/Kantasak Kusiri/Tanart Sathienthirakul).
The 24H Dubai will start tomorrow at 15:00 local time (12:00 CET).
