The Peugeot 308 TCR car has hit the track for the first time in Australia, ready for its debut in the TCR Australia’s finale at The Bend Motorsport Park this weekend.
Former TCR Europe champion Aurélien Comte was granted permission to do a ten-lap shakedown today, giving him and the DG Sport Compétition team the chance to get familiar with the circuit.
Their entry into TCR Australia is being assisted by Garry Rogers Motorsport, who also runs customer programmes with the Renault Mégane RS and Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce cars.
Meanwhile, the field for the inaugural season’s closing event has raised to 21 cars with the latest addition of Iain McDougall in the Melbourne Performance Centre’s Audi RS 3 LMS that was formerly raced by Leanne and Garth Tander in selected events. McDougall, 28, has spent his racing career in production cars and sports sedans, racing for the past two seasons in the former MINI Challenge racers.
He had tested the car two months ago during the category’s evaluation day at Winton, and is using this weekend’s event as a potential launch pad to a full program in 2020.
