Competitors of the TCR International Series had the opportunity to test their cars today at the Autódromo Internacional de Algarve.
The test day was split in four one-hour sessions, two in the morning and two in the afternoon.
The morning sessions were led by the SEAT León cars of Jordi Gené (1:55.074) and Pepe Oriola (1:54.767) respectively. Nicki Thiim’s Audi TT topped both the afternoon sessions (1:54.626 and 1:54.943).
In the combined results of the day Thiim’s time in the third session (1:54.626) was the fastest, only 21 hundredths of a second better than Gené’s 1:54.687; third fastest was Oriola (1:54.767) followed by the second Audi of Kelvin Van der Linde (1:54.804). Nobody else was able to go under the 1:55 mark.
Gianni Morbidelli was the fastest of the Honda drivers in seventh position (1:55.619), behind Sergey Afanasyev (1:55.269) and current championship leader Stefano Comini (1:55.520).
José Monroy ranked 12thand the best of the Portuguese (1:56.370), while Oscar Nogués best lap in the Campos Racing Opel Astra was 1:56.656 and placed him 14th.
Action on track will resume tomorrow morning with the first Free Practice taking place at 9.20 local time.
