André Couto and Luca Engstler will be the guest stars of the TCR China event at Ningbo International Circuit. After joining the TCR Asia series for the first three race meetings of the season, the Chinese championship will race on its own, as part of the WTCR weekend.
Huang Chu Han (Team NewFaster, Audi RS 3 LMS) claimed back-to-back victories in the previous event at Zhejiang and took the lead in the standings with 99 points; Daniel Lloyd (MacPro Racing, Honda Civic FK8) slipped down into the second place, nine points behind, and 19 ahead of Huang's teammate Kenneth Look.
To support Lloyd's title bid, the Dongfeng Honda Team has entered a third car for Macau’s experienced Couto who had already driven for the team last year, winning two races just at Ningbo. Freshly crowned champion in TCR Asia for the second consecutive year, Engstler will make a one-off appearance in a Team Engstler-run Hyundai i30 N.
The series will welcome two other newcomers: Yan Chuang and Edward Chen who will both drive Volkswagen Golf GTI cars for Team ARTKA and Champ T.A. Motorsport respectively.
The event will also mark the second outing of the new MG 6 TCR cars run by the MG XPower team, driven by Zhang Zhen Dong and Macau's Rodolfo Ávila.
Both races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv on Saturday at 17:20 local time (11:20 CET) and Sunday at 13:15 local time (07:15 CET).
