The women’s fight for the TCR title within the Campeonato de España Resistencia continues after the series third event of the season at Valencia, where Alba Cano stole the leadership of the standings from Amalia Vinyes. The gap between them is of six points only, while Vicente Dasi had moved into the third position on equal points with Vinyes.
Dasi won the first race in Valencia, sharing his CUPRA DSG with series returnee David Cebrián; they beat the Martínez brothers – Raúl and Rubén – who secured a 1-2 finish for the RC2 Junior Team.
In the second race Enrique Hernando and Gonzalo Martín de Andrès claimed their second victory of the season in the SMC Junior Motorsport Peugeot 308, while TCR Europe regular Abdulla Al-Khelaifi finished second on his first appearance in the series.
In both races, Alba Cano completed the podium in third position, scoring enough points to surpass Amalia Vinyes in the standings, as the Andorran lady couldn’t achieve anything better than an eighth and a sixth.
The debut in the series of the third lady driver, Mata Suria in the second SMC Peugeot, ended at the beginning of Race 1, when she was involved in an incident with Arturo Espuny.
The CER will resume after a four-month break, at Jarama on October 12/13.
