MM Motorsport drivers don’t release their hold on the Coppa Italia Turismo. At Magione, in the fourth event of the series, Alessio Aiello and Kevin Giacon won one race apiece at the wheel of their Honda Civic Type R cars.
In the first race, Aiello claimed his third victory of the season from his teammate Davide Nardilli and Gabriele Giorgi who won the DSG class. The latter had crossed the finishing line in fourth position but was then promoted to third thanks to a 25-second penalty that dropped the reigning champion Edoardo Barbolini (BF Motorsport, Audi RS 3 LMS) to sixth. Barbolini was punished for an incident with Mauro Guastamacchia who was forced to retire.
Giacon had the pole position, but he made a poor start and eventually was only able to recover up to the fourth place.
Giacon made up for the disappointment in Race 2 in which he started from P5 and won with a comfortable margin of 21 seconds over Giorgi, while Guastamacchia and Barbolini finished third and fourth.
Giacon’s teammate were both unlucky: Nardilli couldn’t even start due to a technical issue, while Aiello retired after only three laps with a broken driveshaft.
The next event of the series will be at Adria, on November 13/15, within the frame of the WTCR race meeting.
