Aggressive Team Italia unveiled its plans for the 2023 season that will see the outfit directed by Mauro Guastamacchia to run two Hyundai Elantra N cars in both the TCR Europe and TCR Italy series.
After having confirmed Levente Losonczy as its first driver, with the Hungarian youngster taking part in both the European and the Italian championships, the team signed Mikael Karlsson and Giovanni Scamardi to complete the line-ups for TCR Europe and TCR Italy respectively.
Karlsson, 51-year-old from Sweden, the winner of the Swedish and Nordic Formula 3 titles back in 2000, comes from a two-year participation in TCR Scandinavia (2020 and 2021) in which he scored two race wins at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTI.
“It’s difficult to predict where we will be able to positions ourselves, but after two days of testing in Misano, I feel more confident,” said Karlsson.
The 28-year-old Belgian Scamardi has mostly raced in the Benelux series, becoming vice-champion in last year’s BMW M2 CS Racing Cup.
“To race in Italy marks an important step in my racing career. I need to get familiar with the car and the circuits, but I’m looking forward to an exciting season,” Scamardi said.
