Only one week after racing at the Lausitzring, the ADAC TCR Germany returns into action for rounds 7 and 8 at Hockenheim.
The current championship leader Luca Engstler (Team Engstler, Hyundai i30 N) hopes to continue his winning streak after the couple of victories he claimed last weekend that helped him to extend his advantage in the standings to 59 points over Dominik Fugel (Team ADAC Sachsen, Honda Civic Type R).
After struggling for pace at the Lausitzring, Eric Scalvini (Wimmer Werk Motorsport, CUPRA Leon Competición) wishes to get back to the form with which he won both races at the Red Bull Ring. “I know the circuit in Hockenheim from a test in the spring. I really like the fast right turn that leads to the Motodrom. The track layout should suit our car well,” said the Italian who is placed third, only one point behind Fugel.
Another driver who looks forward to the weekend is Martin Andersen who was the only one capable to chase his teammate Engstler at the Lausitzring where he finished second in both races. The Dane lies fourth in the standings, 75 points off the leader.
René Kircher (Team Oettinger, Volkswagen Golf GTI) is especially motivated to perform on his home circuit after an engine failure at the Lausitzring forced him to retire in the first race and prevented him from starting in Race 2. “We have a new engine, so it will be difficult in Race 1 because I have to start from the back of the field. However, I like the track a lot. Last year I finished fourth there. To repeat that result, or at least make the top five, is my goal for the weekend, especially in Race 2. And I would like to take a win in the Junior Challenge,” he said.
The races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com; Race 1, Saturday at 13:30 and Race 2, Sunday at 13:30 (CEST).
