Aaron Cameron takes his maiden TCR Australia win

17 November 2019

Aaron Cameron claimed his maiden victory in TCR Australia as he dominated the second race in the season’s finale at The Bend. The win also meant that Cameron moved closer to Tony D’Alberto who is second in the standings; D’Alberto was classified fifth in the race and now leads Cameron by one point only. Will Brown and Jordan Cox completed the podium in second and third respectively, with James Moffat taking fourth after starting from P8.
At the start Brown used the pole to lead from Cameron, while Cox pipped D’Alberto to take third and Moffat made a great start to move from eighth to fifth. Chris Pither (engine change for him) and Nathan Morcom started from the back and began to recover.
In lap 4, Cameron stole the lead from Brown who had to defend the second position from the assaults of Cox and Moffat, as the latter had passed D’Alberto for P4. After missing yesterday’s Race 1 because of a power steering issue, Dylan O’Keeffe was recovering from the back of the field, but retired with brake problems.
Cameron built a comfortable margin and took his maiden win from Brown, Cox and Moffat. Morcom and Pither completed their brilliant recoveries to finish sixth and eighth respectively.
The DG Sport Compétition Peugeot 308 finally hit the track after electronic bugs had nailed it into its garage on Friday and Saturday; however Aurélien Comte couldn’t achieve any better than a 14th place.
The third race is scheduled to start at 13:45 local time (04:15 CET) with the grid based on Race 2 result; live streaming at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
