The 2019 TCR Europe title will be awarded this weekend at Monza, where rounds 13 and 14 will conclude the season.
A strong field of 34 cars will race on the Italian circuit, as the European series will welcome for the first time participants from Australia, Brazil, Honk Kong, Morocco and Poland.
The battle for the championship crown is restricted to Josh Files (Target Competition, Hyundai i30 N) and Julien Briché (JSB Compétition, Peugeot 308) who are split by 38 points. Mathematically speaking, Files' teammate Andreas Bäckman is still in contention as well, but with a gap of 83 points when 85 are still at stake his chances are purely theoretical.
The weight table for the event, based on the Balance of Performance and the Compensation Weight, lists the Hyundai and Honda Civic FK7 cars as the heaviest at 1345kg, with the Audi RS 3 LMS at 1275kg, Renault Mégane RS at 1265kg, Peugeot 308 at 1245kg, CUPRA and Volkswagen Golf GTI at 1225kg. The Honda Civic FK2 that makes its first appearance in the current season will be laden by the maximum compensation weight of 60kg and will weigh 1305kg.
The two races are scheduled to start at 16:50 on Saturday and 11:35 on Sunday, local times (CET); they will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
