RIZA International will promote a new TCR European Endurance series that will start in 2024.
For its inaugural season, the new series will race in four events: two in Italy and one each in Hungary and Czech Republic.
The format will feature a two-hour race split in two 60-minute legs – Part 1 and Part 2 – at each event, with a mandatory pit stop for changing drivers and two tyres. The final results will be the sum of the two parts.
The grid for the Part 1 leg will be determined by the sum of the fastest times set in two qualifying sessions of 15 minutes each, one for each of the two drivers. The grid for the Part 2 leg will be determined by the results of the Part 1.
Three different classes will be awarded: Overall, DSG and Gen I.
Kumho will be the sole tyre supplier, while the races will be streamed live on TCR TV and YouTube.
RIZA founder Maurício Slaviero former promoter of the Brazilian Stock Cars series and currently co-promoter of TCR South America and TCR Brasil, explained: “We believe there is room for an endurance series reserved only to TCR cars. Eventually, our aim is to make it a series of two-hour races, but we decided to take a soft start for the first season and splitting the races in two parts of 60 minutes will help to keep the costs under control.”
