TCR Italy's third event will take place at Vallelunga, where a five-way battle for the points lead promise to deliver a thrilling show.
Although he has failed to take a win so far, BF Motorsport's 2020 vice-champion Eric Brigliadori jumped on top of the standings after the previous race meeting at Misano. With two second places at Monza and two fifths at Misano, Brigliadori and his Audi RS 3 LMS have scored 128 points, two more than the reigning ADAC TCR Germany champion Antti Buri. The Finn who drives a Hyundai i30 N for Target Competition claimed his maiden victory in the Italian championship in Misano's Race 2.
Two other Hyundai drivers are placed third and fourth: Kevin Ceccon of Aggressive Team Italia and Buri's teammate Nicola Baldan; they are eight and 11 points behind Brigliadori respectively.
Salvatore Tavano who was crowned champion three times beteween 2018 and 2020 is eager to make up for his disappointing weekend at Misano. Tavano had taken an early lead in the championship after winning both races in the season opener at Monza with his CUPRA Leon Competición run by Scuderia del Girasole, but a penalty in the second race at Misano dropped him to fifth, 17 points off the leader.
Both races will be streamed live Sunday at www.tcr-series.com: Race 1 at 11:00, Race 2 at 15:00 (CEST).
