Twenty drivers have entered for rounds 7 and 8 of the TCR Russia that take place this weekend at the Kazan Ring.
The Akhmat Racing team will rejoin the series after missing the two previous events with Vitaliy Dudin (Volkswagen Golf GTI) and Magomed Dagiev (SEAT León DSG); the event will also mark the first appearance of a Honda car in the series, as Neva Motorsport’s Oleg Kharuk has dropped his SEAT León DSG for a new Civic FK7.
Klim Gavrilov, the winner of the season’s opening round at Fort Grozny in the Lukoil Racing Audi RS3 LMS has left the team to drive a Volkswagen Golf GTI for Carville Racing. As a consequence, Lukoil Racing has placed Ivan Lukashevich in the Audi and signed Andrej Maslennikov – vice-champion in the 2017 Russian Tourlng Light championship – to drive Lukashevich’s SEAT León DSG.
In his effort to claim a third consecutive title, TAF Motorsport's Dmitry Bragin is currently leading the standings with 87 points.
However, the gaps between him and his competitors are slim: Kirill Ladygin (LADA Sport Rosneft) is second with 82 points, Lukashevich third with 80. Klim Gavrilov and Vladimir Sheshenin (LADA) are equal on 77 points; Lev Tolkachev (RUMOS-AMG Motorsport) and Roman Golikov (UGMK Motorsport) follow with 73 and 68 respectively.
The LADA Vesta cars dominated last year's races at Kazan, with Ladygin and Sheshenin taking one win apiece.
The Kazan Ring races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.tv: Saturday at 10:45 and Sunday at 10:40 (CET).
