Isidro Callejas, 16-year-old runner-up in the 2020 Renault Clio Cup Spain will make his debut at the wheel of a Peugeot 308 in the season finale of the TCR Ibérico, next weekend at Jerez de La Frontera.
After a successful career in karting, Callejas stood out in his first year in the Clio Cup, claiming one victory, two podiums, one pole position and one fastest lap from four races, on his way to finish second in the standings.
The young driver from Córdoba had his first contact with the Peugeot 308 TCR of Madrid-based Chefo Sport team at Jarama.
“Isidro drove around 20 laps and adapted very quickly to the Peugeot, managing a quite consistent pace,” said team principal Nico Abella.
The 308 TCR run by Chefo Sport was a test car of Peugeot Sport.
“I am very happy to have the opportunity to drive the Peugeot 308 TCR and I can’t wait for the racing weekend in Jerez. Obviously, my first goal will be to build experience in this category, then enjoy the car and, finally, to try and get the best possible results in the two races,” said Calleja who added: “Nothing has been fixed yet, but I would love to compete in TCR Europe next year…"
