TCR Australia’s new season kicks off at Symmons Plains

10 February 2022

2022 TCR Australia begins this weekend at Symmons Plains with the Race Tasmania event that will feature three races, one on Saturday and two on Sunday.
A field of 20 cars, the strongest ever, will take part in the season opener, representing seven brands: Alfa Romeo, Audi, Honda, Hyundai, Peugeot, Renault and Volkswagen.
Jay Hanson will drive the newest machine, an Audi RS 3 LMS TCR run by the Melbourne Performance Centre that will also field one previous generation Audi for the 2019 champion Will Brown and one Volkswagen Golf GTI for local Tasmanian driver Eddie Maguire, rallyman who faces his circuit racing debut.
The guest star of the event is experienced Supercars race winner Fabian Coulthard in a Wall Racing Honda Civic Type R alongside Tony D’Alberto.
Other drivers with serious ambitions are last year's vice-champion Aaron Cameron, Dylan O'Keefe, Jordan Cox and Ben Bargwanna in the Peugeot 308 cars entered by Garry Rogers Motorsport, Michael Caruso at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce for Ashley Seward Motorsport, Nathan Morcom with one of HMO Customer Racing's three Hyundai i30 N cars, and James Moffat in a Garry Rogers Motorsport-run Renault Mégane RS.
