Nürburgring WTCR races cancelled due to safety concerns

28 May 2022

The WTCR races scheduled to take place today at the Nürburgring Nordschleife have been cancelled at the eleventh-hour due to safety concerns.

After a number of tyre issues were experienced during practice and qualifying, it was decided on Saturday morning to cancel the races, with safety as the reason.

The WTCR organisers have put out this holding statement:

“Race 1 and Race 2 WTCR Race of Germany, scheduled as rounds three and four of the 2022 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, will not take place for safety reasons.”
