ADAC TCR Germany’s new season kicks off at Oschersleben

13 May 2021

ADAC TCR Germany's sixth season kicks off at Motorsport Arena Oscherleben, with returnée Luca Engstler leading the list of the title contenders.
Engstler, who is also commited to race in WTCR, returns to the championship in which he was vice-champion in 2018. He will drive a Hyundai i30 N car for his father's team and joins two other top drivers: Nico Gruber and TCR Denmark's runner-up Martin Andersen.
The strongest opponents for the Hyundai trio seem to be Marcel Fugel in a Honda Civic Type R run under the banner of the Team Honda ADAC Sachsen and René Kircher who drives a Team Oettinger Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Outsiders to watch are Philipp Regensperger in the Lubner Motorsport Opel Astra and the former winner of TCR Italy's DSG Trophy Eric Scalvini with one of three CUPRA cars run by Austria-based Wimmer Werk Motorsport.
The championship continues to attract competitors for the Eastern Europe, as Lithuanian Jonas Karklys has joined the Polish duo of Albert Legutko and Szymon Ładniak.
New for the season is the Qualifying system, with two 20-minute sessions determining the grid for each race, instead of the previous Q1 plus Q2 format; both sessions award points to the eight fastest drivers.
Both races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com; Race 1, Saturday at 12:40 and Race 2, Sunday at 14:10 (local times, CEST).
