TCR Germany – Steve Kirsch wins final race

03 October 2016

Steve Kirsch of the ADAC Honda Team won the final race of the 2016 ADAC TCR Germany at Hockenheim, in an event that also counted as the final round of the TCR Trophy Europe.
Despite he was forced to retire early in the race after a collision with another car, Pierre-Yves Corthals of DG Sport Compétition clinched the European Trophy.
At the start of the race a couple of incidents eliminated the freshly-crowned German champion Josh Files and Antti Buri, Corthals’ only rival in the fight for the TCR Trophy Europe. The safety car was deployed, while Ronny Jost was leading from Kirsch and Corthals.
When the race resumed, Kirsch overtook Jost for the lead, Corthals hit the wall at the Parabolika after making contact with Mike Beckhusen and Dennis Strandberg moved up to second ahead of Jost.
In the final laps Strandberg put the pressure on Kirsch, but the latter was able to keep him at bay until the chequered flag. Jost completed the podium in third position.
