Andy Yan Cheung Wai will be an important addition to the field of the TCR International Series at Sepang next week.
Yan, 32 years old from Hong Kong, is arguably one of the most successful Touring Car drivers in Asia. After making his first experience in the Hong Kong Touring Car Championship, Yan moved to the extremely competitive China Touring Car Championship in which he was crowned champion in three different classes – 2 litres (2011), Super Production (2013) and 1.6T (2015) – always at the wheel of FRD-run Ford Focus cars.
During the current season, besides fighting for the CTCC title once again, Yan has joined the Liqui Moly Team Engstler to drive a Volkswagen Golf car in the TCR Asia. With four race wins out of six, he’s leading the series with a large margin.
At Sepang he will form an impressive trio with the team’s other drivers: Macau’s Filipe de Souza – who had already raced in Singapore – and International Series regular Davit Kajaia.
