Only a few days after racing in the TCR Benelux event at Mettet, Denis Dupont will fly to China to make his maiden appearance in the TCR International Series.
Dupont will be at the wheel of a SEAT León entered by Comtoyou Racing and supported by the RACB National Team.
The 24-year old Belgian has established himself as one of the top competitors in TCR Benelux in which he shares the RACB National Team SEAT with Sam Dejonghe. They were classified third in the 2016 championship, with two race victories and are currently lying in 8th position this year, having won the 60-minute Qualifying race at Zolder (picture, Jacques Letihon).
“Racing in the International Series is a project I have worked on since a few months and I’m pleased that, with support from my partners and Comtoyou Racing, I am given the opportunity to race in China,” said Dupont who added. “I am very happy to drive a SEAT León, because I know it well. This will help me a lot, as I won’t have the opportunity to test the car I will drive in Zhejiang, and being familiar with the car will let me focus on getting to know the track.”
As for his goal for his début, he commented. “It is difficult to predict. The level of the series is very high, but that of TCR Benelux is just as good. I am already happy just to take part in the Chinese event, as it will be a further experience. Then, if things go well, it will be a bonus for the future.”
